Listen to the Recommended Cuts first
Exactly what it purports to be – insight into the styles, “sound” and “signature” techniques of some exceptional R&B bassists. As others have stated, the book is not song-length transcriptions, but rather teaching “nuggets”, which includes specific discography suggestions.
I strongly recommend listing to the author’s recommended cuts prior to attempting to absorb the bassist’s dedicated chapter. For me that discography review gave increased contextual understanding of each bass player’s approach. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, and Amazon’s streaming audio, many of the recommended cuts are just a few mouse clicks away
